Venue Closed:
The Gig W. LA closed late 2001. We leave (closed) profiles on-line to share some of the local history.
The Atmosphere:
In an atmosphere of low lit clubs, the Gig stands out for it's unique style, notably the soft leopard print wall coverings, candle lit tables and couch seating. You'll find seating at the bar, on the couches surrounding the club and there a couple tables right in front of the dance floor that sits right in front of the stage! If you need to step outside, they have their own gated patio area in front. This is one of the more comfortable clubs in LA.
Their large stage provides live entertainment 7 nights a week, usually starting around 8pm. There's lots of lighting and they even have the very traditional disco ball hanging off center of the stage. The music styles you'll find from one night to the next range from acoustic artists to full blown hard rock and punk.
In addition to a full bar the venue has a kitchen that serves salads, fajita wraps, sandwiches and appetizers. I highly recommend the California Spinach Salad. I'm surprised no ones ever written a review on the salad, it's amazing and healthy. The food they serve is really good, fresh and reasonably priced, but there's not a tremendous amount of choices.
What you should know:
The Gig has some very unique things going on throughout the week. Currently the have the Circle of Songs on Wednesday nights and they have a Gothic night called Club Antiquity that is usually a weekly event.
Parking Situation:
The Gig is located in a good neighborhood and they have their own parking in the back of the club. However, their own lot is small and often occupied by the valet parking they provide. There is ample parking on side streets, so it shouldn't be a problem.
