The Atmosphere:
You'll Enter the Temple Bar through a dark narrow hallway, a good opportunity to check your ID, but a tight squeeze on those busy nights. At the end of the hallway you'll come right into the bar area where you'll be able to look around and get a quick idea of what's going on. There are two large rooms at The Temple bar which are visually open to one another; this means that you'll be able to see the bands, even if you're not in the next room!
This low lit, artsy, atmospheric club will have your senses on overload. The red and black color scheme, candles and incense burning are just the beginning. Paintings of human expressions, ranging from happiness to despair, are scattered throughout the club. Lamps with hula dances, cloth draped tables, oriental statues and Chinese fans are just some of the artsy décor.
There's no problem getting comfortable, you'll find couches strategically placed throughout the venue, along with a good number of tables and chairs and seating in and around the bar. But beware, even with ample seating, it gets busy at The Temple Bar, often standing room only!
The Temple Bar's menu is just as eclectic as their music and atmosphere. You'll find your typical menu items, burgers and fries, along with swordfish skewers, veggie samosas and Caribbean Jerk chicken? Flip the menu over and there's a non-alcoholic menu with a selection of coffees, teas or a warm chocolate fudge cake for dessert.
Parking Situation:
The neighborhood is in a great part of Santa Monica, right on the main strip of Wilshire Blvd. The bar is among other businesses (restaurants, coffee shops, other clubs) and the area is well lit at night. You'll find valet parking in the back of the club from $3.50 to $5.00 and if you can't find a spot there, you can park along the street (but watch the signs).

What you should know:
The kind of music you'll catch at the Temple Bar is not mainstream pop/rock alternative. The club is an outlet for jazz, experimental, fusion, world beat, and styles of that nature. On any given night you'll find bands like Weapon of Choice or Malcolm-Jamal Warner's group "Miles Long." So, if you want to see great entertainment that's a little off the beaten path, The Temple Bar's for you.
