The Atmosphere:

On the outside Harvelle's is somewhat of a mystery. The large red neon sign blends into the building but can't be missed. There's a relaxed and inviting feel when you walk by a group of club goers enjoying a conversation and hear blues music from the club itself. A red light hangs over the door of the club, maybe to remind us that this "live" music.

Once inside, Harvelle's is dark and narrow. There's seating running the length of the venue and in the front just before the bar. The bar runs the length of one side of the venue just to the back, just before the stage, where there's some room to dance. Behind the bar large mirrors give the illusion of a larger space then you're actually in.

The venue is really comfortable and quickly standing room only. Grab a martini and enjoy the atmosphere. The décor features various pictures of legendary performers, softly lit. There's a real classy vibe pulled off in a subtle local bar atmosphere. The clubs black and red ambiance is a perfect backdrop for a will lit stage in the back.

Impressive is how they manage their sound, keeping it at just the right comfort levels. You'll surely find Harvelle's manageable from a hang out with friends perspective as well as a great place to check out live music.

What you should know:

Harvelle's is a blues venue. If you like blues you're going to like what they offer because they pick their artists with finesse. Of venues catering to the blues genre in LA this is one of the top 3 and it's quite possible that they stick to the genre the best of all of them.

Parking Situation:

Parking is a breeze! You're right next to 3rd Street and the club is located right next to parking structure 5. After 6pm on a Friday night parking is still only $3, which is a bargain for most clubs in LA. The neighborhood is great and there's a lot to do if you need more than music.
