Venue Closed:
Common Grounds closed in early 2002 after nearly 20 years in business. We leave (closed) profiles on-line to share some of the local history.
The Atmosphere:
Cozy and unassuming, Common Grounds provides musicians, artists, students and music connoisseurs with a comfy little haven for social and artistic interaction. With a couple of couches, a sufficient mix of un-eclectic chairs, tables and with colorful unobtrusive lighting, Common Ground's quickly makes you feel at home.
It's not uncommon to find some of the same people from one night to the next, don't be surprised if you become one of these people. Common Ground's is one of those places that you can spend a lot of time in without realizing it.
The club recently moved its stage to the far side of the venue in order to make seating and listening more enjoyable. They also allow artists/bands that play Common Grounds to consign their CD's and shirts, so you can pick up your favorite local band merchandise here!
A word about the food... There are no pre-fabricated powdered coffee drinks here! Common Ground's has the real thing; pure, essential frothing shots line every cup of hot, blended and iced espresso drink served. You'll find a wide range of gourmet and flavored coffee, frosty fruit drinks, fresh pastries, sandwiches and salads ... one of "our" favorite items is the vegetarian burger, but they also make a great salad.
What you should know:
Common Ground's is a fun and relaxing place to spend an evening. You can get something to eat, hang out with your friends and listen to good music. The club is very easy going, but you should know that bringing outside food into the shop to eat is frowned upon quite heavily.
