At thelamusicscene.com, one of our primary goals is to scour the live music scene, reviewing live acts and bring the music to the fans. This is a nonstop operation, and we try to see the many great artists out there. The following information will help you, the artists, understand how to approach us about reviewing your performances and CD's / demos.

live reviews & "on the scene"

Live reviews are the heart of thelamusicscene.com. We currently do more live reviews than any other type of feature on the site. For many of our writers, music venues are a second home. Getting us out to live shows isn't hard; all you have to do is ask. However, because we get so many people requesting that we come asking us out to their shows, we ask that you contact us in the following way. Please email us at reviews@thelamusicscene.com

Please contact us at least 3 weeks before your show. If a writer attends your show we ask that you put the writer + 1 on the guest list, and provide a set list and / or music samples at the writer requests.

tip - adding your showdate(s) to the calendar increases your chances of being reviewed.

cd reviews, cd shorts and "notable tracks"

We do full CD reviews, CD short reviews and Notable Tracks. CD reviews are randomly chosen from the library of CDs that have been sent to us. If you've sent music for review and you've since release new material, please send us your new material for consideration. For Notable Tracks consideration, pleases specify the track(s) you think we should pay extra attention to.

For CD/music reviews, recording quality counts. Please don't send us links to your mp3's. (We will simply delete these emails). Materials sent in for review or consideration for any of TLAMS Entertainment Services activities will not be returned.

"signed" column & artist/band related content

Signed, the column is reserved for artists that have been signed by a label but have a relevant or interesting story to share. If you've recently been signed to a label, an established label artist or you're in the process of signing a deal, let us know. We may be able to offer you some additional press.

IF you're an artist interested in an interview, please send us a brief description, emphasis on brief, as to the suggested subject matter of the interview. Your interview will be considered.

other stuff you should know

Reviews are not always favorable, although we approach every review with professionalism and optimism. Secondly, having a writer out to a show is not a guarantee for a review. If a writer chooses not to write, that does not mean that another writer will not write about you in the future. If a writer chooses not to write, please realize that it does not reflect an opinion of the writer.

Sending press releases is a sure way to NOT get noticed. Adding us to your newsletter without asking is a sure way to NOT get noticed. Why? Because if we continually get "junk" emails from you, we'll likely pass over the "important" email request. To avoid this, send us a personal email request. We prefer personal emails to chain letters.

If we've missed something that you feel is important to know about getting reviewed on thelamusicscene.com, please send us an email and we'll update this information. reviews@thelamusicscene.com
