CD Review : Krister Axel : "Swexico"

"Swexico"…soothing vocals and appealing melodies, you'll be delighted when you pop this new release from Krister Axel. Brooklyn's rhythmic guitar lines, keys sustaining underneath and simple horns bouncing atop the melodic lines will have you singing along. It's well chosen background vocals encourage audience involvement.

Illuminate the Sky has a quick paced percussive track but the vocals stay relaxed and uncomplicated. Axel's beaten, gruff tones welcome you further into his latest works. This track invokes visions of soaring with ease and good feeling. All the instruments are well placed and meld together flawlessly.

Waterfall's more complex picking guitar pattern lends itself to the squeak of strings and a 'live' feeling that is natural and soothing. This song has a progressive groove that slowly builds into a picturesque climax, still easy but vibrant.

Second Place has a more Americana feel with a bluesy flow and more drawn out vocals. Axel's crispy lines relate on a very human level. He conveys thoughts that cross generations of experience, life and love.

Georgia Rain is an epic conclusion to this EP showing off a bit more vocal range not heard in previous tracks. He is obviously passionate in his delivery and is well equipped to take you right along side on his journey. As a listener it connects and communicates not only through lyrics but also through the music itself.

"Swexico" is a shining example of the local talent Los Angeles has to offer. Check out Krister Axel's latest news and upcoming show dates on www.krister.biz.
